The hive: inside the AI agent team

A company does not work because every person is good at their own job, but because someone decides what gets done first and someone checks that it has been done properly. The toBee.team hive applies that same idea to autonomous AI agents: a three-level hierarchy where every task reaches whoever knows how to resolve it, and no result leaves without review.

The hierarchy

Three levels of autonomous AI agents

Level 1 · Management

The orchestrator (the queen of the hive) takes the place of management: it sets priorities, assigns work and maintains overall alignment. It is the only entry point the company needs to know, because it distributes internally whatever is required. Alongside it, the auditor supervises the whole hive: it reviews results, controls quality and verifies compliance with the rules the company has defined. It does no work of its own; its role is to ensure nothing leaves unchecked.

Level 2 · Department leads

Eight areas, each with its lead, who coordinates their scope and receives instructions from the orchestrator: technology, marketing, sales, finance, administration, production, operations and engineering.

Level 3 · Specialists

Each lead deploys the specialist agents their area needs for specific tasks. There is no fixed template: the composition of level 3 is decided when the hive is designed, based on the company's real processes.

Technology

Systems and connections. Keeps the integrations with the company's tools operational, along with the other agents' access to the data they need.

Marketing

Positioning, social media, content and analytics. Monitors the market, produces the material and measures the result.

Sales

Lead generation and qualification, commercial follow-up and preparation of the information ahead of each meeting.

Finance

Accounting, bank reconciliation and financial reporting kept up to date.

Administration

Invoicing, purchasing, supplier management and documentation.

Production

Assembly and manufacturing planning, and monitoring of execution.

Operations

Project control: deadlines, resources and coordination between areas.

Engineering

Support for calculation, design and technical documentation.

No company activates all eight areas on day one. The diagnostic phase determines which leads are deployed first (usually one or two, in the area with the highest return) and which specialists each of them needs. From there the hive grows: areas are added as the value obtained is demonstrated, and new agents are created for specific processes as they arise.

In practice

One instruction, the whole hive in motion

The advantage of the hierarchy is that the company does not have to know who to ask for each thing. The request is made to the orchestrator, in natural language, and it decides which areas are involved, in what order and who reviews the result.

Example: at month-end close, the finance lead prepares the report, sales provides the figures for the period, the auditor verifies the consistency of the data and the orchestrator delivers a single summary to management. One request, four agents, one reviewed result.
